About Sprachenbrücken - Jazykové mosty
Symposium in Prague
The fact that the symposium took place in Parliament and was attended by distinguished guests highlights the high level of recognition the project has received. Under the patronage of Member of Parliament Mgr. Ing. Pavla Pivoňka Vaňková, representatives from politics, academia, and educational administration shared their perspectives on multilingualism and cross-border educational cooperation. Contributions from the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, the Upper Austrian Directorate of Education, the Regional Assembly of German Associations in the Czech Republic, and the Austrian Ambassador to Prague provided a distinguished setting for the Sprachenbrücken – Jazykové mosty project.

In Pasečná we built the first bridges
On September 4–5, the Pasečná resort in the Lipno region hosted an introductory training for teachers in the cross-border project Sprachenbrücken – Jazykové mosty. Ten teachers joined the two-day program and will soon teach children in Czech–Austrian border schools. On Friday, municipal and school representatives joined to connect, discuss practical issues, and prepare for the project’s start.
The first phase brings language courses to six municipalities: Vyšší Brod, Loučovice, and Přední Výtoň in Czechia, and Bad Leonfelden, Vorderweißenbach, and St. Stefan-Afiesl in Austria. Nursery and elementary pupils will learn Czech and German.
Kick-off in Frymburk
On 4 June 2025, the official launch of the Interreg project took place in Frymburk, Czech Republic.
From partner groups in kindergartens to theme days for young people, vibrant learning spaces are emerging where language becomes a bridge between people and cultures.

Sprachenbrücken – Jazykové mosty
In this project, children learn more than just how to speak with the neighboring country.
Learning Czech or German at an early age brings the sound, rhythm, and meaning of a new language closer. They learn to listen, to empathize, and to think across borders – in language, in culture, in life.
German and Czech are more than neighboring languages.
They are gateways to two great language families:
One stretches to English and Danish, the other echoes in Polish, Croatian, and Ukrainian.
Every word learned is a bridge waiting to be crossed.
We are guiding a generation,
that builds and crosses bridges
and writes its own story.
